Nova ferramenta do Google identifica as áreas mais vistas dos sites

Browser Size mostra os tamanhos das janelas dos navegadores mais usados com base em uma amostra de dados sobre as visitas no Google.com.

O Google Labs lançou na quarta-feira (16/12) o aplicativo Browser Size, que permite analisar quais regiões gráficas de um website são mais vistas pelos internautas.

A interface mostra os tamanhos das janelas dos navegadores mais utilizados pelos usuários com base em uma amostra de dados sobre as visitas no Google.com. Com um modelo de gráfico, as regiões são representadas em pixels de altura por largura.

A novidade é útil para analisar quais partes da interface de um website são mais vistas pelo público. No exemplo demonstrado pelo Google, há um botão para doações posicionado na área de 80%. Em outras palavras, 20% dos usuários não veem esse botão na visão inicial da página: um número significante que motivaria o designer a elevar a posição do botão para que mais pessoas o vejam sem ter que utilizar o rolamento.

Segundo um post no blog oficial, a taxa de instalações do Google Earth aumentou 10% quando a posição do botão de download foi movida 100 pixels acima. “Acreditamos que o aumento tenha acontecido por causa dos usuários que queriam testar o software, mas não conseguiam ver o botão para download”, afirmou o Google.

O aplicativo já está disponível para testes no Google Labs.
