Google investigada por alegado abuso de posição dominante

A Autoridade da Concorrência italiana (AGCM) abriu uma investigação ao motor de busca Google, por um suposto abuso da posição dominante no seu serviço de pesquisas de notícias Google News, escreve o Cinco Días.

Segundo as informações avançadas, esta segunda-feira, pela Autoridade da Concorrência daquele país, esta decisão surge depois da Federação Italiana de Editores de Jornais (FIEG) denunciar o alegado abuso do Google, ao não permitir escolher livremente o modo como são utilizadas as notícias dos seus sites.

É que o fato dos sites não quererem aparecer no Google News, já tem causado problemas, já que acabam por ser automaticamente excluídos do seu motor de pesquisa. Uma situação que, para o regulador, pode levar a deformações no mercado publicitário na Internet.

A AGCM abriu já uma investigação ao Google Italy para verificar se o comportamento da empresa, tendo em consideração o seu domínio indiscutível no fornecimento de serviços de pesquisa online, pode afetar indevidamente a concorrência do mercado publicitário online, bem como consolidar a sua posição na mediação de espaços publicitários, lê-se na nota.

Segundo os editores italianos, a forma como o Google News utiliza parcialmente alguns dos produtos destas publicações tem um impacto negativo na capacidade destes em atrair utilizadores e investimentos publicitários para os seus próprios portais.

Os editores italianos, que não obtenham qualquer forma de remuneração direta pelo uso dos seus próprios conteúdos no Google News, também não teriam a possibilidade de escolher se desejam incluir as notícias publicadas nas suas páginas da Internet no portal da Google, indica o comunicado.

O fato da publicação se recusar a aparecer na Google News, e isso poder implicar uma exclusão imediata do motor de busca, seria, de acordo com o regulador, uma condição extremamente prejudicial, uma vez que é essencial para uma página da Internet aparecer no motor de busca.
