A otimização de sites para mecanismos de busca gera uma nova safra de empresas no Brasil.

Há três anos, o advogado Steven Sudré, hoje com 30 anos, foi buscar uma solução para aumentar as parcas 60 visitas mensais que recebia em seu site de reservas online. Foi quando descobriu a sigla SEO (Search Engine Optimization) e também um novo negócio. As técnicas de otimização de sites para buscadores viraram o foco da empresa que ele abriu com os holandeses Peter Faber, 37 anos, e Pieter Lemstra, 33 anos — a Brane. O investimento inicial foi de 20 mil reais.

No começo o trabalho era basicamente de evangelização. Quando batiam na porta dos potenciais clientes, tinham de explicar todo o conceito. Hoje, com a web 2.0, o caminho é inverso. São os clientes que procuram a empresa. "Infelizmente, não conseguimos atender a todos", diz o sócio-diretor Sudré. Em menos de seis meses a empresa se tornou lucrativa. Seu foco continua o mesmo da época da criação: SEO e SEM (Search Engine Marketing). Além de ajudar os sites dos clientes a ser localizados pelos robôs do Google, a Brane também administra campanhas de links patrocinados. A idéia deu tão certo que hoje a empresa atende mais de 70 clientes como as lojas Marisa e a Dimep.

Mercado em alta
A boa notícia é que o boom do SEO/SEM mal começou. Ainda há muito espaço para explorar esse mercado: uma grande quantidade de empresas desconhece o conceito de otimização de sites. Outras já estão buscando a ajuda de especialistas. "As grandes agências não conseguem atender a demanda de empresas menores, o que abre um espaço a ser explorado", afirma André Zimmermann, diretor de operações da Media Contacts, agência internacional de mídia interativa.

O mercado está bombando. Há dois anos, os americanos desembolsaram 5,7 bilhões de dólares com a otimização de sites e a gestão de links patrocinados, segundo dados da Search Engine Marketing Professionals Organization. A estimativa é chegar a 11 bilhões de dólares em 2010.

Muitas empresas estão de olho no primeiro lugar da busca do Google — o que é um dos desafios dos prestadores de serviços. "A grande sacada do SEO é produzir o site pensando no usuário e não no robô, que tem usado o raciocínio do usuário", afirma Renato Fabri, 32 anos, diretor de criação e sócio (com Pierre Mantovani) da agência digital Tribal. Do total de 10 milhões de reais que ela deve faturar em 2007, os serviços de SEO representam cerca de 5%. Mas Fabri alerta os clientes que o SEO não é uma ciência exata.

No caso dos serviços de SEM, boa parte das empresas que os procuram ainda não entraram no mundo online e, por isso, não entendem a linguagem e as estratégias da web. É comum precisarem de consultoria. A Tribal, por exemplo, já fez o trabalho de SEO atrelado a outros serviços digitais para clientes como Philips, Grupo Suzano e Mercedes-Benz.

Como começar
A otimização de um site leva de seis a 12 meses e requer profissionais bem preparados. É preciso ter um bom conhecimento técnico do funcionamento das páginas web, entender de programação e estruturação de sites e ainda ter boas sacadas de gestão e marketing. A própria internet pode ajudar no aprendizado. Os sites de busca dão muitas dicas. Além disso, há uma boa quantidade de tutoriais espalhados pela web.

Existem ainda empresas que oferecem cursos de webmarketing, com foco em SEO e SEM. Mas todo preparo é pouco: os buscadores são dinâmicos, o que exige uma atualização constante do prestador do serviço. A participação em eventos e fóruns online pode ajudar. O principal investimento que quem vai começar nessa área precisa fazer está no conhecimento. A Brane, por exemplo, teve que treinar seus profissionais no início, já que não havia especialistas em SEO e SEM no mercado. Em termos financeiros, um negócio com foco nessa área demanda cerca de 20 mil reais inicialmente. É a quantia necessária para comprar PCs com boa capacidade de processamento, contratar webmasters e pagar treinamento.

Para lojas virtuais
Dentro do universo do SEO/SEM é possível fugir do óbvio e inovar. A Brane, por exemplo, anunciou recentemente um software específico para lojas virtuais. Batizado de Merchant Metrix, ele é voltado para os buscadores. Como essas ferramentas não compreendem a maioria dos aplicativos de lojas virtuais, o produto da Brane se propõe a construir a loja já otimizada.
